New Legacy Project Part 8: The Finish Line

Dear Friends and Fans,

I am thrilled to announce that not only have I finished the last chapter of the rough draft of my book, but that I have found the best of all possible editors: Dorion Sagan, a gifted science writer and the son of Lynn Margulis and co-author on many of her books. Here are a few of the books Dorion has authored or co-authored: What Is Life? and Microcosmos: Four Billion Years of Microbial Evolution (co-author Lynn Margulis); Notes from the Holocene; Sex and Death (with co-author Tyler Volk); Lynn Margulis: The Life and Legacy of a Scientific Rebel; Into the Cool:Energy Flow, Thermodynamics and Life (with co-author Eric Schneider); and, Cosmic Apprentice: Dispatches from the Edge of Science.

As it stands right now, there are 36 chapters each with one full-page and one to two half- or quarter-page color illustrations. In doing research for the draft, I was able to retrieve a digital copy of the 1968 video “Igor” that I had made at WGBH Boston, as well as a digital copy of the Italian 1970 film La Vacanza (The Vacation) that I designed costumes for and in which I played the role of the Contessa Americana.

So what’s next? I foresee a good deal of re-writing, preparing the digital images, and looking for and hopefully finding a publisher. I am not setting another deadline. Right now I am just opening a bottle of champagne! So raise your virtual glass and I will fill it, virtually.
